My journey as a DJ began in 1995, a pivotal year when I found my passion for music and entertainment. It all started in the quaint town of Dubuque, IA, where I would set up a basic sound system consisting of just a pair of turntables, a couple of CD players, and a mixer. I launched my career by spinning for small house parties, immersing myself in various genres and learning the art of reading a crowd. My dedication was evident early on; at just 14 years old, I was working overnight shifts at K-LYV 105.3. By the time I turned 16, I had established my own radio show, marking the beginning of my deep connection with broadcasting.
In 1998, I took a significant step in my career by relocating to Cedar Rapids. Here, I briefly worked at 100.7 The Fox Radio, gaining invaluable experience in a professional setting. Soon after, I began booking gigs at Penguins Comedy Club, where I not only served as their house DJ but also took on the role of a part-time host and emcee for their comedy shows. This position allowed me to meet and interact with numerous celebrities, enriching my career and expanding my network within the entertainment industry. Over the years, I have been fortunate enough to book a variety of shows across multiple states, including Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Missouri, and even ventured to vibrant locations like Las Vegas and California.
In 2008, I achieved a significant milestone by landing a coveted weekly drive-time on-air slot on Chicago’s 107.3 VIP Online Radio. This opportunity allowed me to reach a wider audience and hone my on-air personality, and I relished the experience for 18 months, engaging with listeners and creating a dynamic listening experience.
Throughout my extensive career, I have had the honor of sharing the stage and opening shows for an impressive lineup of renowned artists. Some of these artists include Twista, DJ Pauly D, Yung Joc, Coolio, Salt-N-Pepa, J. Holiday, DJ Paul (of Three 6 Mafia), Chingy, Tech N9ne, Murphy Lee, and Tone Loc, among others. Each collaboration has left a lasting impression on my career and has further fueled my passion for music.
